Yard Fairy Brings Smart Irrigation to Southern California, Helps Residents Conserve Water, Dollars

With droughts and fires plaguing San Diego County, water conservation has reached critical importance. The Yard Fairy, an award winning local landscape design and installation company, is helping homeowners make the switch to water-wise alternatives such as the Smart Irrigation Controller. Participating residents are being rewarded with a $350 rebate for their efforts in the month of June.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 11, 2008, San Diego, CA--

Award-winning residential landscape design and installation company The Yard Fairy at www.YardFairy.com, is helping Southern California homeowners obtain a $350 rebate on Smart Irrigation Controller installation throughout the month of June 2008. Smart Irrigation is a San Diego County Water Authority-approved irrigation method that conserves significant amounts of water.

A certified Smart Irrigation installer, The Yard Fairy gets the nod from the San Diego County Water Authority as being fully qualified to install, test, and maintain Smart Irrigation systems.

Smart Irrigation Controllers offer more that just timed intervals of watering. This advanced technology is able to determine how much and how frequently your plants should be watered based on the type of vegetation and amount of precipitation expected in the area.

According to Diane Downey, owner of The Yard Fairy, "We install the Weathermatic Smartline, which has a weather station attached that detects the changes in local temperature and humidity and adjusts the irrigation automatically. This represents a considerable water saving given the usual tendency for people to change their irrigation once in the spring and then again in the fall."

Residents who wish to set up Smart Irrigation Controllers for their own landscaped gardens and yards should contact a certified installer such as The Yard Fairy if they would like to receive the $350 rebate from the county.

Downey reports that by incorporating this alternative watering method, residents are able to increase their water savings to as much as 40 gallons per day. Switching to California-native plants brings an additional savings of 33-60 extra gallons per day per 1,000 square feet. Climate conditions and landscape design efficiency also play a part in how much a resident is able to reduce water use on a constant basis.

The Yard Fairy is becoming well known throughout the San Diego area for imaginative landscape designs that utilize state of the art water conservation techniques and irrigation methods such as the Smart Irrigation Controller, that give homeowners a greater amount of control over how much water they use.

San Diego County residents who would like to have Smart Irrigation Control systems installed as well as take advantage of the $350 rebate should contact The Yard Fairy as soon as possible, as the offer expires at the end of June 2008.
